Nearly 4 weeks ago Samui WebTV visited the breathtaking city of Singapore for the annual F1 Night Race. Right after our first impressions we decided to produce an event report for Samui WebTV about the GP weekend.

From 12 to 21 September, Singapore was the place to be for race-related action both on and off the track. The city went full-throttle from day to night with vibrant and dynamic experiences ranging from world-class entertainment, nightlife, dining to shopping and more.

Shopping malls and the downtown roads were packed with attractions around sports  and racing cars

In 2014, visitors to the Marina Bay Street Circuit enjoyed Formula One’s only full night race and soaked up the electrifying atmosphere with high-octane entertainment at Marina Bay, made pit stops to fuel up with flavourful local cuisine and were part of exhilarating retail events at Orchard Road.

IMG_1714The full-throttle race, set against Singapore’s glittering skyline, is one to remember – it’s the first ever to be held at night and is also the first street race in Asia.

From the stands, watch the cars whiz past to the chequered flag – at speeds of up to 300 kilometres per hour – on the stunning 23-turn IMG_1671Marina Bay Street Circuit.

Visitors to the race have a plethora of experiences on offer both in and out of the circuit.

Lots of stunning theatricle performances and music live acts such as the award-winning singer, actress and entertainer – known to her fans as JLo –  Jennifer Lopez headlined the Padang Stage on the Sunday evening, September 21, after the race’s conclusion in front of 60.000 visitors. Take That star Robbie Williams was greeted by heavy rain just as he was about to start his set on Saturday night, but he soldiered on through a thoroughly wet 90-minute set. Pop icons Pet Shop Boys, reggae singer Ziggy Marley and soul artist John Legend, with more artists performed at Marina Bay Street Circuit.

TIMG_1715he Padang area was the meeting point for most of the incredible attractions.

In 2014, locals and tourists could be found across several precincts replete with the best lifestyle experiences – they partied away at Amber Lounge, Podium Lounge and Bacchanalia, re-fueled with flavourful cuisines at Ujong and Artichoke; indulged in retail therapy at the Keepers Design Showcase; made a pit stop at the National Museum of Singapore to learn about the nation’s history of motor racing, and enjoyed the combination of stunning aesthetics and breathtaking equestrian techniques at Cavalia’s inaugural run in Singapore.

Season Singapore promises to be one season with so much to do and see, at any time of the day.

We were incredibly  impressed by the fantastic atmosphere here in the city of  Singapore  and its hospitable inhabitans.IMG_1838IMG_1712IMG_1840IMG_1843
